Kazimierz Krasiński, of Ślepowron coat of arms (1725-l802)
Marshal of the regular Seym in Warsaw 30 IX-9 XI l782
Starost of Krasnystaw and Nowe Miasto from 1752, Grand Camp Com-
mander of the Crown (the last in the Commonwealth) from 1763.
In his youth he stayed at the court of king Louis XlV,
and then he was educated in the Cadet School at Luneville,
at king Stanisław Leszczyński's, who gave him the title of
Chamberlain. As a deputy to the 1748 Seym, he supported the idea
of treasure reforms. A Knight of the Order
of the White Eagle (1763). After the death of August III
he favoured the Saxons, but having signed the election
of Stanisław August Poniatowski (1764) he was loyal to the new king,
which could be easily seen in the 1782 Seym, when presiding
the debate he tactfully quietened down and soothed some stormy
statements of anti-royal opposition. In 1788, during the Great Seym,
he became a member of the Military Commission of the Two Nations.
A supporter of the Third May Constitution, he participated in
the Kościuszko Insurrection, assisting them financially as well.
After the partitions he patronized independence organizations.
He was a patron of culture - financed book printing and paid
fees to the translators of learned works - and a benefactor
of the Church. He left large family archives.
