Son of
Jerzy Sebastian Lubomirski
, an outstanding military
commander. Under Sobieski's orders he fought with the Tartars and
Turks (participated in the Chocim victory in 1673). From 1664
a Knight of Malta. He did not join his father's rebellion.
He became the Seym Marshal in 1681 with a support of the French camp,
whose adherent he was (he opposed the alliance with Austria then).
From 1682 he was a supporter of the anti-Turkish League, proved
to be courageous in the Vienna Relief (1683) and the subsequent
campaigns in Hungary. In the 1696 election Seym he fought against
the candidacies of Jan Sobieski's sons. A partisan of August II,
after his abdication he was one of the candidates for the crown
with the Swedish guarantee. After Stanisław Leszczyński's election
he withdrew from the public life.
