Assistant Master of the Pantry of the Crown from 1664, Palatine of Sieradz from 1669, Palatine of Cracow from 1682, Field Hetman of the Crown from 1692, Castellan of Cracow and Grand Hetman of the Crown in 1702.


He fought in the wars with the Cossacks, Hungary and Russia (1655-64). As the Marshal of the 1669 election Seym he contributed to the election of Michał Korybut Wi¶niowiecki for the king. He proved brave in the Chocim campaign (1673). In 1674 he signed the election of Jan III Sobieski. He participated in the Vienna Relief (1683) and fought with the Tartars and Turks until his death.
